POLAND 2008
Explorer Scout Adventure
Welcome
In 2008 we travelled to Krakow in Poland. This was the first International Trip we organised independently without the help of a major tour company. This meant we could keep the cost down as no profit was being made. So in the February school holidays a contingent of 44 Explorer Scouts and Leaders went on an education trip to Poland. Due to the nature of some of the tours it was strictly limited to those over the age of 14.
This micro-site shows you what we did, some of the photos we took, videos, media coverage we got plus useful links
Why Poland
At Silver End Scouts Remembrance Service in 2006 a video was played about 'Freedom'. This had images of Auschwitz in it and was a very moving and powerful clip. Afterwards a number of Explorer Scouts expressed a desire to go there and experience it for themselves. Since Explorers are District based the trip was offered to the all the Units in the District.
