Welcome

This website has been set up to show the world the international trips that Silver End Scouts have organised.  Some of them they have invited other Scouts, or just organised for the Scout District in which they are based.  Our first trip abroad was in 2005 organised with the assistance of JEKA.  2007 was done the same way.

However, since then the trips have been organised independently, saving a lot of money and also meaning that we deal directly with activity or tour providers.

For anyone looking at organising a trip abroad for Scouts or other youth organisations we hope these pages give you some inspiration.  Don't be afraid - get travelling!

Advice

The best advice from us is to do what you feel comfortable doing.  You may prefer the ease of using JEKA or Venture Abroad, but will be limited to the choices in their brochures.

If you have the confidence then organise it yourself.  Start by searching the internet for other youth groups that may have visited the same place that you want to go and get in touch with them for info.

Another good starting point is to look around Hostel websites and see what they can provided.  Sometimes going full board doesn't cost that much extra, and means you can spend more time having fun instead of cooking!

We have provided a number of links on the right hand side that you can use as a good starting point.  Our favourite is Hi Hostels.  It enables you to search for accommodation around the world that are suitable for groups.  It then provides you with details of the rooms, facilities, what's nearby etc.  Some will even organise the excursions and activities for you.
